International Congress Centre, Katowice

Design with a capital D

The modern ICC building, impressive in its shape, fits perfectly into the Culture Zone – a revitalized space adjacent to the timeless Spodek, the seat of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Silesian Museum. Designed on a grand scale and with the organization of large events in mind, it has been actively involved in the life of the city – especially since part of it has remained open to residents in the form of a public passage.

The modern ICC building, impressive in its shape, required the use of equally impressive finishing solutions. The choice of noble concrete products was a real bull’s-eye in this case! The main foyer, which has a communication function, is dominated by three architectural elements: a geometric roof, a wall of windows and concrete stairs, for the construction of which Dasag solutions were used.

Modern buildings – modern concrete steps

The interiors of the International Congress Centre are decorated with noble, modern materials – openwork expanded metal, wood, glass and concrete. Attention is drawn to the monumental Dasag concrete stairs, which divide and at the same time organize this extremely designer space. Stylish grey, which beautifully reflects light, and minimalist form, emphasizing the innovative character of the building, make concrete stairs not only an indispensable construction element, but a full-fledged complement to the interior design.

However, the aesthetics of concrete steps is not everything. In the case of designing public spaces, the important advantages of noble concrete are resistance to mechanical damage or abrasion, low water absorption, anti-slip properties and extraordinary ease of daily care.

Effective and effective at the same time!
